Little J and Genesis Man is a narrative based puzzle exploration game designed by a team of 3 over the course of about 6 weeks in my Sophomore year for a Digital Storytelling class. I created all the art assets for the game. This includes sprites, animations done in Unity’s MecAnim system, and a few stray models and textures that we needed. I also contributed to the design of the puzzles, and setting up the levels in Unity.
Little J is a young boy who lost his father, and he daydreams in order to deal with his problems. The game takes place in a comic book he has imagined over his real life situations, and he is accompanied by his fictitious hero, Genesis Man. The two travel through four distinct areas, dealing with a new problem in each zone. Story is told through cutscenes, minor dialogue, item collection, and an inventory system that includes details of Little J’s life as part of descriptions of collectibles. The story also features different outcomes and endings based on how many of the collectibles the player can find.
